I started writing this song right before Covid and finished it a few weeks after quarantine had started. This song put me in a different place, and that is still its whole purpose.

I want to write a song that doesn't rhyme
that doesn't mean anything that doesn't keep time
a song that sinks me like a stone in the deep blue sea
want the waves of it washing over me
I want to write a song that doesn't rhyme

and maybe that song will never quite exist
it'll float through the air like a blown kiss
while the strings sing softly from my fingertips
waves fill the void when they leave my lips
I want to write a song that never quite exists
nevertheless let it soothe some lost soul's loneliness

oh if all of the things that I ever resisted
weren't the very same things
that have always persisted
blissful song take me along
as you drift away

and then I'll fill that song
full of emptiness
take the hole inside and put it to music
don't know I'm lost
until in the song I'm found
want to bathe myself in nothing but sound
i want to write a song
full of emptiness
